Goran: Thanks! Haven't decided if I'm going to finish this... I might just start a new one.
Dan: Well, he's had so many different origins, it's really confusing... in some he's the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian prince, in some he's an alien from Thanagar... personally, I like him as a guy who believes himself to be a reincarnated Egyptian prince but can't prove it. Remember that episode of JLU he was in where he was Hawkgirl's psycho stalker? Yeah, that was awesome.
Anyway, crazy or not, I think he has one of the best costumes out of all male heroes.
Even as a child, I could not wrap my head around a reincarnated Egyptian prince/alien warrior who flies around half-naked and hits ghosts with his mace.
And why does he have wings on his head, too? At ACAD, we'd call that 'gilding the lily.'
They 'cleared up' his origin a couple of years back, to amalgamate his Golden Age and Silver Age origins. He is Carter Hall, the re-incarnation of Prince Khufu, who was himself an alien of Thanagar. Yeah, no one said comic books had to make sense. His characterization nowadays is like Clint Eastwood with wings and super-tough skin. He's the right-wing (pun intended) faction of the JLA and JSA.
I just stumbled across your blog and wanted to say hi, awesome artwork, gnarly blog... and great to stumble upon a fellow Canadian comic nerd out in the blogiverse!
I'm just at work right now but I'll definitely be checking out your blog in greater detail from home. I notice you've got plenty of interesting links to other artists and forums as well so looking very forward to exploring those.
Feel free to check out my own blog, The Mental Kavity, and lemme know what you think of my artwork.

looks interesting ...
surely would like to see the finished piece.
Is he really Insane? I dont follow Hawkman.
If so, he just became more appealing.

Give him a huge beak.
Is that some sort of English euphemism?
No, that would be "nob".

Haha, that's fair, Kelly... he is pretty bizarre. But when it comes to superfluous headwings I'll take Hawkman's over Captain America's.
